Rennes begins negotiations to sign Ziyech

Stade Rennais has shifted into second gear for Hakim Ziyech. The French club has begun discussions to sign the Galatasaray player during the upcoming winter transfer window.

According to Turkish media, Rennes officials recently contacted Ziyech’s agent to prepare an official offer to secure the services of the Atlas Lion, who is going through a difficult period with Galatasaray.

The same sources reveal that Ziyech would be in favor of a new adventure in Ligue 1, although he has also received an offer from the American championship. The Moroccan player hopes to quit Galatasaray as soon as the winter transfer window begins.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Argentine coach Jorge Sampaoli, currently in charge of Rennes, is putting pressure on the club’s management to complete the transfer. Serious negotiations have reportedly already taken place between the two parties.

Ziyech has had very little playing time recently with Galatasaray. In his last Europa League match against Malmö, he only came on in the 87th minute. A situation that weighs heavily on the morale of the Moroccan international.

Aged 31, Ziyech has only played five games this season in the Turkish league with Galatasaray, providing just one assist. He has not been called up to the Moroccan national team for the last few games, a decision taken by coach Walid Regragui.

As a reminder, the former Chelsea player joined Galatasaray on loan in the summer of 2023 from Chelsea, before the Turkish club bought his contract outright. His contract with Galatasaray runs until June 30, 2025.
