Grenada Reaffirms Backing for Morocco’s Sovereignty Over Its Entire Territory, Autonomy Plan as Only Solution to Moroccan Sahara Issue
Grenada reiterated their nation’s support of Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty across their entire territory – including Sahara region- and reiterated support of Moroccan autonomy plan as only viable solution in finding lasting solution to Sahara dispute within region. Policy was laid out in a Joint Statement signed after talks on Thursday in Rabat by Nasser Bourita (Minister for Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expats) as well as Grenada Premier Vice-President Dickon Mitchell (Former Prime Minister).
Grenada expressed its appreciation for the increasing global agreement and King Mohammed VI’s determination to advance Morocco’s Autonomy Plan and assert Moroccan sovereignty over Sahara.
Mitchell highlighted in this Joint Statement, Mitchell praised United Nations as being essential in finding an indefinite, lasting and fruitful resolution to local conflicts.
Grenada as one of the six Eastern Caribbean States welcomes its membership and the establishment of an Organization of Eastern Caribbean States Embassy located in Rabat (October 18, 2018) and Consulate General Dakhla (March 31st 2022), providing opportunities to strengthen exchanges and further collaborations between Morocco and its six Eastern Caribbean State Members.
