The Chamber considers Law No. 18.23 an essential milestone for structuring Morocco’s film industry and sees it as providing a comprehensive vision that supports local production while strengthening Morocco as an attractive location for international films. With its stunning landscapes and abundant culture already well-established as assets to Morocco’s appeal as a preferred location for productions, Morocco can now count on a sound legislative framework to entice more foreign filmmakers.
Legislative reform can be seen as a response to the deep aspirations of professionals within the sector who hope for a modern, sustainable and competitive film industry. Producers recognize its significance for encouraging innovation, creativity and internationalization of Moroccan industry.
Another key feature of the law is strengthening governance and transparency within the film sector, according to CMPF’s assessment. Moroccan Chamber of Film Producers have also expressed their intention to support the implementation of this law and are prepared to implement concrete initiatives ensuring its proper application, in order to meet stated goals and support national film industry growth.
Finally, the CMPF encourages professionals in this sector to foster an environment of cooperation and continue the positive momentum generated by this new legislation. According to this Chamber’s assessment, collective work and general mobilization will only allow Morocco’s film industry to flourish and emerge as both cultural and economic drivers on both a local and global scale.
