Casablanca hostels cozy garden affordable
Introduction :
If you’re looking for the best hostels in Casablanca, this guide has you covered.
I spent a month in Casablanca visiting family and friends, and I really enjoyed my time there.
However, this is not a city that oozes that ‘traditional Moroccan flair’ that you might be pursuing as a traveler.
Casablanca has nooks and crannies where you will encounter busy bazaars, stunning architecture, and the ‘Moroccan atmosphere’ of the movies. But overall, the city is more modern and industry-focused.
I personally love it, but if the goal of your trip is sightseeing, you won’t need more than two days there to see the Hassan II mosque, the Medina souks, the Habous quarter, and the Hammam Hassan II.
But this is a big city, so picking the best Casablanca hostel for your trip is a must. The hostels in Casablanca in this guide are great for all travelers, whether you’re a history-lover, a fan of culture, or traveling with your family and friends.
Here are our top picks for safe and budget-friendly accommodations in Casablanca, Morocco.
LHostel à Casablanca
This is a very big hostel in Casablanca. What we liked the most was its beautiful garden where you can lounge in the sun, read a book, or work on your laptop (their free Wi-Fi is great).
The place itself is very inviting and cozy. It’s small enough to promote interactions between guests yet big enough to provide private spaces for those who prefer to stay alone.
If you’re a light sleeper, be sure to bring earplugs with you, as the hostel is a bit echo-ey.
Location: Casablanca hostel in the residential area of l’Oasis, which isn’t very central. It’s a 10-minute walk away from Gar l’Oasis, which can take you to many famous sights throughout the city. It’s also easy to find taxis in the neighborhood.
Medina Hostel
This Casablanca hostel is family-operated, and the family actually lives in the same building as their accommodation.
While the decor is very ‘Moroccan grandmother’ style, it’s pretty homey, and you will warm up to it.
The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating and has some great recommendations for things to do in Casablanca.
This is an excellent pick if you want to have an authentic feel and live in an actual Moroccan home.
Location: Hostel in the center of Casablanca’s old city. It is in Medina where you’ll find the souks and markets, and the Hassan II mosque is a walkable distance away.
Hôtel Astrid
is one of the more traditionally decorated Casablanca hostels. Actually, it’s more of a hotel, but it’s still a very budget-friendly accommodation option for travelers.
lthough breakfast isn’t included, they serve it at a reasonable price, and we think it’s pretty delicious.
Overall, this is a great choice if you want to stay in a good part of the city in a very traditional Moroccan atmosphere.
We recommend this for travelers who prefer peace and quiet.
Location: South of the city center. This Casablanca hostel is near many shops and restaurants, and it’s a short walk from the CTM bus station
Average price
Average price for a bed: Hostels in Casablanca cost $15 – $25 per night for a bed in a dorm. A private room has an average price of around $44 per night. This is a rough average, just to give you an idea.
Prices always depend on the season and holidays.
Check-In and Check-Out:
The average check-in time is from 15:00 (3 pm), while the Check-Out time is before 11:00 (11 am). Hostels usually offer luggage storage in case you arrive earlier or leave later. Make sure you check if luggage storage is free or if there is an extra cost.
general tips
Souk tip: You must put your bargaining hat on if you don’t want people to take advantage of you. Bargaining is part of the culture, so get good at it!
Places are closed on Fridays and holidays: Morocco is a Muslim country, and religion is part of day-to-day life. This means that a lot of shops and attractions close on Fridays at noon as this is one of the most important times for prayer of the week.
Some shops also close for a bit during prayer times throughout the day, regardless of the day.
If you’re visiting during Ramadan (the Ramadan calendar changes every year), it might also be hard to find meals during the day.
Transportation: Most travelers and locals use the Casa tramway. You can also opt for private taxis (Petit taxis).
